Temporarily Down/Broken Screens is a photo series dealing with malfunctioning, rebooting, or abandoned video screens in public installations, educational institutions, or transit-related spaces. Contrary to narratives describing the unassailable dominance of contemporary capitalism and networked technologies in everyday life, the project presents a detailed look at the neoliberal character of these incursions of screens into public passages, where once installed they are neigh reliable nor particularly impressive. Their loops stop running and remainstuck on software startup screens and no one seems to notice or care. The project has been presented as a performative lecture.
